Hamidur Rahman Azad lambasts at Awami League leaders for their intentional propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami
Thursday, 14th July, 2016

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 14th July, 2016 protesting the baseless comment of Awami League United State wing’s organizing secretary Abdul Hasib Mamun as he said, ‘terrorist attacks took place in Gulshan and Sholakia in order to save death row convict Mir Quasem Ali. Failing to do so, Jamaat leaders along with Mir Quasem’s son have initiated financial efforts. They also hold a meeting with Jamaat leader Barrister Razzaq in a hotel in Manhattan.’

“There is no nexus between saving Mir Quasem Ali and the recent terrorist attacks in Gulshan and Sholakia. No question arises at all for financial endeavor as well. Awami League leaders are trying intentionally to find out a link of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir with the recent terrorist attacks in a bid to tarnish the images of these two organizations.

The countrymen are well informed that one of the 5 militants who had attacked in Gulshan restaurant was Rohan Ibn Imtiaz, the son of a city Awami League leader Imtiaz Khan Babul. Now Awami League leaders are conducting ill campaign against Jamaat and Chhatrashibir in order to divert the public attention.

Jamaat is sponsoring JMB and Ansarullah militant groups, such claim is also ridiculous. Their demand to ban Jamaat-e-Islami is completely unlawful, illogical and illegal. The countrymen would not be confused with such baseless remarks.

In this backdrop, I am calling upon the Awami League’s US wing leaders to be refrained from delivering false address implicating Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir in future.”
