Wednesday, 04th May, 2016
Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 4th May, 2016 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of Tangail district’s 5 Jamaat leaders and activists including Nagorpur Upazila Jamaat Ameer Principal Maulana Golam Rabbani, Modhupur Upazila Jamaat Secretary Md. Abdul Kadir, Jamaat member and Bhuapur Upazila resident Idris Ali and Jamaat activists Alamgir Hossen.

“Police have been arrested Jamaat leaders and activists from different places of the Tangail district in order to harass them politically. The detained Jamaat men are completely innocent. They have been arrested as a part of political harassment just to attain the ill political intentional of the government. These unjust arrest incidents once again portrayed the fascist face of the authority. I am calling upon the countrymen to raise voice against the fascist activities of the government.

I am urging the authorities concerned to stop torture and repression and to release all the detained Jamaat leaders and activists including Tangail district’s Nagorpur Upazila Jamaat Ameer Principal Maulana Golam Rabbani and Modhupur Upazila Jamaat Secretary Md. Abdul Kadir immediately.”
