Specific allocation demanded in the budget for supplying gas through pipeline and rapid construction of airport in Khulna
Saturday, 04th June, 2016

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 4th June, 2016 demanding specific allocation in the budget for supplying gas through pipeline and building airport in Khulna.

“The proposed budget said nothing about the long awaiting demand of the people of the Khulna region for supplying gas through pipeline. Besides, the budget did not mention anything specific for facilitating the Khan Jahan Ali Airport which is under construction in Khulna. The absence of any such specific allocation has disappointed the people of the South-Western region of the country.

Special allocation should be ensured in the budget for supplying gas through pipeline in order to build new industry and factories in this region. It is the requirement of the moment to allocate more money for upgrading the living standards of the neglected people of this South-Western region. To mobilize the activities of the Mongla sea port and to vibrate the financial lives of the people of this area, there is no alternative to supply gas and also to construct airport.

This is why, I am demanding specific allocation in the proposed budget for supplying gas through pipeline and building airport in Khulna to meet the demand of the South-Western people. In addition, I am calling upon the government to resume operation of all the closed jute mills including Mohsin Jute mill and Ajax jute mill and to pay the due salaries of the labors during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.”
