Bogra district Jamaat leaders dies inside the prison; Acting Ameer condoles; accuses the authority of showing negligence about his treatment
Tuesday, 31st May, 2016
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed has issued the following statement on 31st May, 2016 expressing deep shock as the Bogra district’s Kahalu Upazila’s Durgapur union 2 number ward president Abdul Jalil died inside the district prison as detainee on last 30th May.

The government had unlawfully arrested Jamaat leader Abdul Jalil and subsequently pushed him towards death by depriving him from his fundamental rights of getting medical treatment. He had been suffering from cardiac and eye sight related diseases even before his unjust arrest.

It was the obligation and duty of the government to release him on emergency basis to ensure his due medical treatment. But the relatives of late Abdul Jalil already accused the prison authority of showing negligence about the treatment. Their allegations should be probed and if it is fact then the responsible persons must be punished.

I am praying to Almighty Allah to accept all his noble and good deeds and to bless him with Jannah. I am also extending deep sympathy to his mournful family. May Allah bless them with strength to endure this hard time.”
