Acting Secretary General condemns the untrue statement of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina against Jamaat-e-Islami
Monday, 30th May, 2016
Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 30th May, 2016 condemning the untrue remarks of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that she made while addressing a reception program in Imperial Hotel of Japan on last 29th May in which she claimed, ‘BNP-Jamaat alliances are operating secret killing in a preplanned way to create nationwide anarchy and instability. They are killing people of all classes including Imam of the mosques, temple monks, saints and university teachers.’

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s address is far away from truth. She has delivered politically motivated untrue address in order to tarnish the image of Jamaat-e-Islami. Responding to her address, I want to clarify that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami sincerely hates the politics of murder and terrorism. So no question is emanated at all of having any involvement of Jamaat-e-Islami with the secret murders or killing of general people including Imam of the mosques, temple monks, saints and university teachers.

The countrymen are well informed that Awami hooligans are killing people by torching running vehicles and similarly the ruling party cadres are used to carry attack on minorities, vandalize their houses and establishments and grabbing their properties forcefully. Even they often murder the own party men in guise of factional clash. The Prime Minister is trying to conceal the misdeeds of her party people. This is why; she is making effort to confuse the expatriate Bangladeshis by making false and fictitious address against Jamaat-e-Islami. The countrymen never believe her statement and the foreign nations also rejected such untrue remarks.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami neither carries the politics of destruction nor do they have any intention to hamper development programs by creating instabilities. All the concerned quarters are truly acknowledged that Awami League led present government is using the law enforcement agencies unlawfully to kill the opposition and general men extra judicially. They are exercising the heinous strategies of murder and abduction. The government has completely destroyed the electoral system and now they are causing anarchy to hamper development and also to foil the investment-friendly atmosphere. The government is conducting destructive politics by attacking and vandalizing the houses of the opposition leaders and activists.

At present incidents of secret killing, terrorism, abduction and murder are increasing as the government has failed entirely to protect public life and property. There is no relation between the war crimes trial or its verdict and the deterioration of law and order situation. The Premier is making false statement against Jamaat-e-Islami just to hide the failure of the government.

The Prime Minister should restrain herself from making such untrue statement for the sake of her dignity and reputation.”
