Acting Secretary General denounces false address of the Prime Minister; demands proper investigation of Kolabagan double murder incident
Tuesday, 26th April, 2016
Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 26th April, 2016 protesting and criticizing the address of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that she delivered in Gana Bhaban on 25th April accusing the BNP-Jamaat quarters of the recent murder incidents like the double murder incident, took place in Kolabagan of the capital.

Protesting the address of the Premier, I simply want to assert that, Jamaat-e-Islami has no connection with any of the murder incidents which took place across the country in recent times including the double murder of Kolabagan. The Prime Minister has raised some false and concocted allegations against Jamaat-e-Islami.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami believes in the systematic and democratic trend of politics. So there is no reason for Jamaat-e-Islami to carry secret killings in a bid to destabilize the country. Jamaat-e-Islami has no connection with the secret murders or any such wrong doings.

What the Prime Minister has said about Jamaat-e-Islami, is completely her own concoction. The countrymen are well acknowledged that, immediate after a bad deed or unwanted incident, the ministers are used to deliver conspiring and false statement implicating Jamaat-e-Islami with the incident in order to create more complicacies.

Earlier, the ministers and the ruling party leaders had made the same effort. But their claims have never been proved. The Premier’s latest claim would be proved wrong ultimately.

After an accident, if the authority starts blame gaming tactics against the opponents, it may hamper and damage the investigation process as a whole. Resultantly, the real criminals are spared and they continue their ill deeds with more enthusiasm. Under the circumstance, I am urging the Prime Minister not to blame opponents and not to deliver false statements implicating the oppositions.

The government has completely failed to maintain law and order situation. They are actually trying to shift the liabilities of crimes upon Jamaat-e-Islami in order to conceal their own failure. But the general masses cannot be confused with such false and intentional statements of the government personnel.

Earlier, Japanese and Italian citizens had been murdered. But none of the killers of those incidents have been tried. Those cultures of immunity are causing the ground of more killings. Very recently Rajshahi University Professor Dr. AFM Rezaul Karim Siddique has been murdered by the miscreants.

The countrymen are aware that ruling party Awami League men are involved with the most of the misdeeds across the country including secret killing, terrorism, abduction, kidnapping, extortion, terrorism and attack upon the minorities. Awami League thugs are causing the deterioration of the law and order situation. So the people think, if the Awami hooligans are being tried for their wrong doings, the law and order would be improved significantly.

I am calling upon the concerned authorities not to raise intentional allegation against the opponents and to investigate all the misdeeds including the double murder incident of Kolabagan and to punish the real criminals strictly.”
