Hamidur Rahman Azad demands immediate release of 18 female activists of Jhinaidah district Jamaat-e-Islami
Tuesday, 19th April, 2016

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 19th April, 2016 protesting and criticizing the unjust arrest of 18 female activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from Dudhshora Vobanipur village of KotChandpur Upazila under Jhinaidah district on 18th April.

“The 18 female activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, who had been arrested from Dudhshora Vobanipur village of KotChandpur Upazila under Jhinaidah district, are completely innocent. They had been arrested as a part of ongoing political harassment.

We have been observing with great concern that the government is conducting inhuman oppression and torture against the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir in Jhinaidah district. Jamaat-Shibir workers cannot stay in their home even. The arrest incident of Jamaat’s female activists substantiated that even the religious and pious ladies are not being spared from the oppression of the government. Police are arresting Jamaat’s female activists unlawfully. I am calling upon the countrymen to take stand against such repression of the incumbent government.

I am urging the concerned authorities to release 18 female activists of Jamaat-e-Islami immediately, who had been arrested from Dudhshora Vobanipur village of KotChandpur Upazila under Jhinaidah district.”
