Dr. Taher criticizes bdnews24’s false report; government is using its puppet personnel to distort history, he alleges
Saturday, 16th April, 2016

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher has issued the following statement on 15th April, 2016 protesting and gainsaying the false, baseless and confusing information in a report published in the online news portal bdnews24.com which referring a book of Mr. Rehman Sobhan, claimed that Jamaat is the agent of Pakistan and the genocide. Jamaat is providing military training and arms to the militants and Pakistani military use those militants as killing squad. Historically they had been engaged in mass killing in the name of Al Badr and Al Shams. These squads had continued operational activities as the associate of the Pakistani army.

“Referring the book of Mr. Rehman Sobhan, bdnews24.com has published some baseless information about Jamaat-e-Islami. The claim of Rehman Sobhan sounds like some peculiar reality as if, war of independence had not taken place against Pakistani army, rather it had been taken place against Jamaat-e-Islami. Their statements are nothing but distortion of history, ideology and came up simply out of political vengeance. If this is the real fact, then what bar late Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to sue Jamaat leaders in connection with the cases of crimes against humanity, committed during the independence war as such cases had been filed frequently immediately after the independence for those crimes.

The harsh reality is, false and baseless cases have been filed against those Jamaat leaders against whom no such case or even a GD had ever filed in last 40 years. During the trial procedure, several false evidences, under aged witness and political men were produced as prosecution witness but mysteriously members of the victim families were not appeared as witness.

Furthermore, the 16 crore people of Bangladesh and the world community have witnessed the loopholes and drawbacks of the trial procedure including Skype scandal, abduction of defence witness from the tribunal premise and repeated physical and mental assault upon the defence lawyers. As a result, several human rights organizations around the world, UN, concerned nations and international platforms have expressed their concern and objection about the controversial trial procedure. Government in response became reckless and started new propaganda utilizing their puppet personalities. We think, they would not be successful to confuse the local and international communities as the truth has been revealed.

Where is the end of this unjust propaganda? How many days will they continue this war against the shadows only? Why they keep the nation divided?

Enough is enough. I am urging the concerned authorities not to continue such ill campaign and propaganda in future.”
