Saturday, 16th April, 2016

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 15th April, 2016 protesting and rejecting the false and baseless information published in a report of online news portal bdnews24.com which quoted an interview of IS, Bangladesh wing’s so called Chief Shaykh Abu Ibrahim al-Hanif that had been published in the IS’s Propaganda Magazine Dabiq that claimed the grassroots level activists of Jamaat-e-Islami are joining IS.

“I want to assert that no grassroots level activist of Jamaat-e-Islami had joined IS. The so called Chief of IS, Bangladesh Shaykh Abu Ibrahim al-Hanif in his interview claimed that some grassroots level workers of Jamaat-e-Islami have joined IS which is completely false and baseless. Jamaat-e-Islami believes in systematic and democratic trend of politics. So no question is emanated in regards to the joining of any Jamaat activist to the militant organization like IS.

I am urging the authorities of bdnews24.com not to publish false and concocted report against Jamaat-e-Islami and expecting that they would publish this protest statement properly to minimize confusion.”
