Maulana Mim Obaidullah dies; Acting Ameer and Nayeb-e-Ameer express condolence

Central working committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Maulala Mim Obaidullah died at 7 in the evening today due to some old age complications in the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Inna lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun. He was 84. He left his wife, 3 sons, 2 daughters and many other relatives, fans and followers. He will be buried tomorrow at his family graveyard after the funeral prayer which is scheduled to be held at 11am at the Rohonpura village ground.

He has discharged duty as the district Ameer of Chapai Nawabganj for years. He was also elected a parliament member in 1986. He hailed from Rohonpura village under Nachol Upazila of the Chapai Nawabganj district. He also served Jamaat-e-Islami as the Central Majlish-e-Shura member for long time.

The 10 parliament members who resigned from the parliament in 1987 to intensify the anti-autocracy movement, he was one of them. Throughout his life, he has worked sincerely for the movement and struggle for establishing Islamic society and to secure the voting and democratic rights of the citizens.

Message of condolence: Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maqbul Ahmed and Nayeb-e-Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman have jointly issued the message of condolence on 30th September, 2016 expressing deep shock and condolence at the death of Jamaat’s central working committee member and former member of Parliament Maulana Mim Obaidullah. 

In the message of condolence, they stated that we have lost an honest, skilled, veteran religious scholar and political associate at the demise of Maulana Mim Obaidullah. He has worked relentlessly to establish a base of the Islamic movement and also to expedite the activities in the greater Rajshahi region. His bold and dynamic role in this regard will be remembered forever. He also set a glaring example of sacrifice by resigning from the parliament on December, 1987 intensify the then anti-autocratic movement. 

May Allah accept all his noble deeds to bless him with Jannah. The Jamaat leaders extended deep sympathy to his mournful family and relatives and prayed so that they can bear the shock of losing their dearest family man.”
