Parti Amanah Negara (AMANAH) strongly condemns the death penalty by hanging for Motiur Rahman Nizami, a leader of Jamaat e-Islami Bangladesh. The execution was recently carried on 11th May.

AMANAH believes that executing this leader of an Islamic movement is a vengeful political move, committed by the Bangladeshi regime in an effort to restrain the movement of Jamaat-e-Islami and render it powerless.

The accusation that the deceased, may Allah have mercy on his soul, was involved in acts of murder, rape, and pillaging while leading the Al-Badr group, during the struggle for independence from Pakistan on 1971, was unreliable and contaminated with fabrications.

The world, and especially the people of Bangladesh, had lost another heroic figure who, in his glorious life, has inspired thousands and millions, locally and internationally, to fight for the truth and justice.

We believe that the martyrdom of the late Motiur Rahman Nizami is not going to break the spirits of Jamaat-e-Islami to persist in the struggle for justice in their country, strengthened by the support of the worldwide fraternity of Islamic movements.

AMANAH also wishes to convey our condolescence to the family of Motiur Rahman Nizami, may Allah have mercy on his soul. We pray that those he left behind will remain strong and faithful in the face of tribulations. It is our conviction, that this action against him will actually usher the arrival of more heroes to continue the good fight.
