Sylhet district’s veteran Jamaat leader dies; Acting Ameer and Acting Secretary General express condolence

News of condolence:

Central Majlish-e-Shura member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, former Ameer of Sylhet north organizational district and Sylhet region’s Assistant coordinator Azizur Rashid Chowdhury has died of old age complications in a hospital in Sylhet on 10th June at 6.20 in the morning. He was 72. He left his wife, 3 sons, 3 daughters and many relatives, followers and well wishers. His funeral prayer held in Sylhet Alia Madrasa ground at 4.30 in the afternoon and later he has been buried in Shahjalal graveyard.

Message of condolence

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maqbul Ahmed and party’s Acting Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman jointly issued the following message of condolence over the death of Jamaat-e-Islami’s central Majlish-e-Shura member, former Ameer of Sylhet north organizational district and Sylhet region’s Assistant coordinator Azizur Rashid Chowdhury.

In the condolence message, they stated that, later Azizur Rashid Chowdhury was one of the persons who had played the key role in spreading the activities of Jamaat-e-Islami in the greater Sylhet region. He also contributed significantly for the development of Sylhet. He was an outstanding activist in the movement for establishing Islamic rule and also in the movement for introducing caretaker government system. May Allah accept all his noble deeds to bless him with Jannah.

The Jamaat leaders also extended deep sympathy to the mournful family of the deceased and prayed to Almighty Allah so that they can endure this shock.
