Acting Ameer urges the countrymen to be united in the movement for saving the country from misrule and divisive policies of Awami League
Wednesday, 13 April 2016

Dear countrymen,

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu.

The independent and sovereign Bangladesh is crossing a critical transitional period now. Democracy, rule of law, human rights and all fundamental and basic rights of the people are severely suppressed. The law and order situation has deteriorated so badly that even the law enforcement agencies have become involved with several malpractices and crimes like looting, hijacking, rape and murder. Allegations of criminal offences have raised against the law enforcers. The forces which are supposed to defend the law and order, they are nakedly violating it. The law enforcing agencies are getting involved with extortion openly. The deplorable position of the judiciary is also clear to the countrymen. Freedom of judiciary is far away; rather this department is being used as a tool of attaining the government’s interest.

Nothing is there to secure the political rights of the people. Though the constitution ensures freedom of expression and right to hold procession and rallies, but the incumbent government has seized those rights away. The government in a planned way, through state terrorism is subduing the opposition to depoliticize the nation in a bid to launch one party rule in the country. False and ill motivated cases are sued against the recognized politicians and thus efforts are going on to keep them away from politics. The government has no liability towards the people. Instead of solving the mass crisis, the authority is deepening the stalemate. People are being victimized in many ways. The entire nation has turned into a giant prison. A festivity of looting and corruption is going on everywhere. Including Bangladesh Bank, most of the economic institutions have been made weaken through malpractices.

Conspiracy to eliminate Jamaat-e-Islami:

During the previous regime of 4 party alliances government in 2001-2006, two ministers of Jamaat-e-Islami conducted three ministries with honesty, sincerity and efficiency. A vested quarter became afraid of the increasing popularity and credibility of Jamaat-e-Islami and started conspiracy to wipe out this party. As a part of it, in 28th October of 2006, brutal attack had been carried against Jamaat-Shibir activists. Around 50 activists of Jamaat-Shibir and the opposition quarters and 800 activists became injured in the incident. The subsequent government was not allowed to function as per the constitution. As consequence of this conspiracy, one eleven, the black chapter of this history was initiated.

Later state of emergency was declared throughout the nation. The military backed authority took the charge of the state office. A massive oppression and crackdown started against the political parties and its leadership. But ultimately this government failed to rule the country. As the escape strategy, they made a compromise with Awami League and hold a farcical and plotted election on 29th December of 2008. This election took place amidst unprecedented rigging, fake voting and intimidation. With the help and assistance of the election commission, a vested portion of the law enforcers, Awami League cadres carried out mayhem and resultantly public choice had been ignored and Awami League formed the government with so called outright majority.

Effort to destroy democracy:

Coming to the office, Awami League took several anti-national initiatives. In order to stay forever in power, using the judiciary they abolished the caretaker government provision from the constitution. Oppression gets its high mark against the opposition. Meeting, rallies even human chain of the opposition forces had been foiled. Massive arrest drives were conducted across the country. People of all walks including the religious scholars, journalists, teachers and intellectuals became the victims of the government’s suppression. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir became the worst victim of government’s oppression.

As a part of the conspiracy of destroying the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami, the government started finding allegations against its leaders. But getting no such allegations, they brought the settled issue of 1971 war in forth and prosecuted the top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami in the name of trying so called crimes against humanity.

By amending the law for several times, producing the ruling party as false witnesses and by submitting intentionally prepared evidences, death penalties were handed down against the top leaders of the party. Already, party’s Assistant Secretary General Abdul Quader Mollah, Mohammad Kamaruzzaman and Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid had been executed. Now conspiracy is going on to kill Jamaat Ameer Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami. A short picture of Awami League’s suppression and torture against Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir is given below: (From 2009 to March, 2016)

Number Description Total Remarks 1 Martyr (Jamaat) 125  Cross fire and diredct murder victim by the police and ruling party thugs 2 Martyr (Student) 130  Cross fire and diredct murder victim by the police and ruling party thugs 3 Arrested (Jamaat men) 88,771    4 Kidnap and Abduction 16    5 Arrested (Jamaat women) 928    6 Arrested (Shibir activists) 60,110    7 Arrested (Chhatri Shangstha) 600    8 Total case 2,01,012   9 Injured 75,000    10 Crippled 5,200    11 Police remand and torture 95000    12 Looting and arson at houses and business institutions 6000 houses and institutions and taka worth of 3.5 hundred crore taka

People’s love for Jamaat-e-Islami:

Despite massive torture and oppression, people’s love and trust for Jamaat-e-Islami is growing significantly. Ignoring the government’s crackdown, they consider Jamaat as their trustworthy place. Despite the unprecedented rigging, Jamaat’s outstanding result in the Upazila election of 2014 and the mayoral and local government election of 2015 is the biggest evidence of Jamaat’s increasing popularity. For such popularity, the government is in fear of Jamaat-e-Islami and they are creating obstruction for Jamaat backed winner candidates to act properly. As a part of their ill conspiracy, immediate after the victory, the authority for no reason, arrested the Jamaat backed representatives and kept them behind the bar for years.

It is apparent that if proper opportunity is given, people will choose Jamaat-e-Islami as their ultimate selection. The government finds its defeat in the victory of Jamaat-e-Islami and as a result, crackdown against Jamaat-e-Islami continued. Jamaat people are sued in different places of the country and they are being convicted and sentenced based on the false witnesses. The ruling party cadres also loot the house and set fire at establishments of the Jamaat people. These bad deeds are making the people more sympathetic towards Jamaat-e-Islami. We believe that such spontaneous support of the people would inspire Jamaat-e-Islami to tackle and overcome the brutal oppression of the government. The people are the witnesses of the misdeeds of the government and one day they will give their final verdict.

Conspiracy to ban Jamaat-e-Islami:

The ministers are frequently and boastfully declaring to ban Jamaat-e-Islami. Such declaration is completely unconstitutional and illegal. Jamaat is a democratic party which has played significant role in all the previous democratic movement of the country. Jamaat thinks that the government should be altered through electoral procedure. So Jamaat believes in strengthening the election system and also in the existence of the caretaker government during the poll. But this government does not care any system as they do not believe in democracy and have no trust upon the people. They want to tolerate the existence of the dissident forces. Such mentality and approach goes against the spirit of democracy and it is also a threat to the citizen rights. But this is the tradition of Awami League. In the earlier regime, they had banned all the parties to launch one party BAKSHAL rule. But the people will never let their conspiracy to ban Jamaat happened. Islamic movement cannot be stopped by banning Jamaat-e-Islami. Despite their oppression and torture, Islamic movement will go on. In the past, who had tried to erase Islamic movement, became futile ultimately. Similarly, whatever the government tries to ban Jamaat-e-Islami, it will attain a sacred place in the mind of the people.

Be united for protecting the nation:

Fellow citizens,

This country belongs to you, us and the 16 crore people irrespective of cast and religion. The interest of the country cannot be diminished for the ill activities of some vested dishonest, corrupted and selfish looters. We must have to take stance against those sections who are mulling to destroy the state institutions just to stay in power.

The law enforcers, instead of maintaining peace and stability are being used to create anarchy and chaos. Allegations came up that the government mulls to turn the judiciary into its subservient organs. The courts are being used to convict the opposition leaders and activists as a part of the ill interest of the government. Frontiers are completely unprotected. Awami cadres are looting the wealth and resources of the country indiscriminately. Thousands of crore money have been laundered from the central bank. Anarchic situation is also prevailing in the education sector as well. Public offices are being used as the ruling party office. Instead of professionals, least talented and partisan people are being promoted as government high officials. As if, there is nothing but Awami League in all places. If such situation continues, the nation would suffer from merit crisis and the country would be inconvenient to live in. No alternative is there but united movement to save the country from this deplorable situation. This is why; in this crisis period, I am urging the countrymen to be more active and determined and to take part in the movement for protecting the nation in order to get rid of the current crises.
