Acting Ameer calls to observe 21st February as International Mother Language Day
Saturday, 20 February 2016

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed has issued the following statement on 20th February, 2016 urging to observe 21st February as ‘International Mother Language and Glorious Martyr Day’.

“21st February is International Mother Language and Glorious Martyr Day’. Bengali language has secured the honor of state and international language due to the sacrifice of blood and lives of the martyrs on this 21st February. The nation will remember those heroic martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the establishment of Bengali as state language on 21st February of 1952. I am commemorating those martyrs with due respect and praying to Almighty Allah for their salvation.

Bengali language should be established and continued at all stages of mg  lives and it must be protected from the cultural and anti-national aggression. Only then, the dream of the language martyrs would be fulfilled.

I am urging all units and wing organization of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the countrymen to observe 21st February as ‘International Mother Language and Glorious Martyr Day’.”
