SC upholds death penalty for Mir Quasem Ali

Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the death penalty for Jamaat\'s central executive committee member Mir Quasem Ali in a so called case of crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.
A five-member Appellate Division bench, headed by chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, gave the verdict.
On 2 November 2014, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 sentenced the Jamaat-e-Islami leader to death for his alleged war crimes in 1971.
On 30 November 2014, Mir Quasem Ali filed the appeal with the SC challenging the death penalty
