Monday, 07 March 2016
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed and its Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman have jointly issued a statement on 6th March, 2016 expressing deep shock and condolence over the death of the former Speaker of the Sudan Parliament, veteran politician, internationally recognized Islamic scholar and the leader of the opposition Dr. Hassan Al Turabi.
“Not only the nation of Sudan but the entire Muslim Ummah have lost an experienced leader at the demise of Dr. Hassan Al Turabi. It is a great loss for the Muslim Ummah indeed.
He was the former Speaker of the Sudanese Parliament, former foreign minister and the ex-attorney general of the country. He was the founder of the popular Congress Party in Sudan and discharged the duty as the Secretary General of the Party. He is one of the key figures of the Islamic movement in Sudan. For the Islamic movement, he has experienced inhuman repression, torture and imprisonment for several times.
Although his life, Dr. Hassan Al Turabi has worked hard to establish Islamic rule in a democratic and systematic way. He never compromised with the anti-Islamic quarter.
May Allah accept all his noble deeds to bless him with Jannah. We are extending our deep sympathy and condolence to his mournful family, relatives, his party men and the Sudanese people.
