Professor Mujibur Rahman re-arrested; Acting Ameer condemns; demands immediate release
Thursday, 11 February 2016

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maqbul Ahmed has issued the following statement on 11th February,  2016 protesting and condemning the unjust incident as Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has been re-arrested in connection with another false case even after securing bail in all the cases filed against him.

The re-arrest of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami\'s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman from the jail gate in connection with another false case even after securing bail in all the cases filed against him earlier has exposed the fascist face of the government once again.

Professor Mujibur Rahman is an academician and popular political leader. The government has made an injustice by detaining him for long days despite his innocence. By arresting from the jail gate in connection with another false case even after securing bail in all the cases filed against him earlier, the authority has showed its disrespect towards judiciary and rule of law. Such acts of the government contradicts the spirit of democracy and human rights as well. I am calling upon the people with good conscience in home and abroad and also asking the human rights bodies to raise voice against such unjust and autocratic activities of the government.

Finally I am urging the authorities concerned to stop its fascist activities and to release all the innocent detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including party\'s Nayeb-e- Ameer and former member of the parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman immediately.
