Acting Ameer calls the countrymen to protest against government’s ongoing repression against Jamaat-e-Islami
Tuesday, 08 September 2015
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed has issued a statement on 8th September, 2015 protesting and condemning the unjust re-arrest of party’s central working committee member and Chittagong city Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Ahsan Ullah and the similar unlawful arrest of Jessore district Jamaat’s former and regional coordinator Maulana Azizur Rahman in which he alleged that the government has arrested them just to attain its ill political interest.
The government is arresting the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami without any reason in order to stay in power forcefully. Such unjust arrests have exposed the fascist face of the government.
Professor Ahsan Ullah has been arrested from the jail gate for two times. Denying his release even after his bail from the High Court, the government has shown utmost disrespect towards law and the judicial system. I am calling upon the countrymen to protest against the ongoing crackdown and repression of the government against the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami.
I am urging the concerned authorities to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Professor Ahsan Ullah and Maulana Azizur Rahman immediately.”
