Police continues its unjust arrest drive against Jamaat-Shibir activists nationwide; Acting Ameer demands release of the political detainees
Sunday, 25 October 2015
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed has issued the following statement on 25th October, 2015 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami across the country including Rajshahi city Jamaat Ameer Professor Dr. Abul Hashem and Gaibanda district Jamaat Ameer Dr. Abdur Rahim.
“The government is unlawfully arresting the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami nationwide in order to launch one party rule by subduing the opposition forces. Police has arrested Rajshahi city Jamaat Ameer Professor Dr. Abul Hashem on 25th October, Gaibanda district Jamaat Ameer Dr. Abdur Rahim on 24th October, Bogra district’s Adamdighi Upazila’s Vice chairman and local Jamaat leader Younus Ali, Bandarban municipality Jamaat Ameer Rezaul Karim, local Jamaat leader lecturer Hamid Hasan, Bandarban district Chhatrashibir President Imranul Haque, Naogaon municipality Jamaat Ameer and 4 other activists, Bogra east organizational district unit financial secretary Hasan Ali Mondol and 2 activists, Bogra west organizational district’s 3 activists and 4 Shibir activists from Savar. Police has made an injustice to them by arresting them without any reasons. The government is also arresting the public representatives and making the voters deprived from getting their due service. All these incidents revealed the fascist face of the government. No government could sustain in the past by carrying out such torture and repression and the current government will not sustain as well by adopting the repressive strategy.
I am calling upon the concerned authorities to release all the detained leaders and activists including Rajshahi city Jamaat Ameer Professor Dr. Abul Hashem and Gaibanda district Jamaat Ameer Dr. Abdur Rahim immediately.”
