Friday, 23 October 2015
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed has issued the following statement on 23rd October, 2015 protesting and condemning an incident as after 22 days of the arrest of Satkhira district’s Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Rafiqul Islam, police handed him over to Choddugram police station of the Comilla district.  “Police has truly violated the laws and human rights by handing over Satkhira district’s Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Rafiqul Islam after arresting him 22 days back. Police had arrested him from Savar, on his way to the capital unlawfully. Later, the law enforcers denied the arrest. For last 22 days, getting no information about Maulana Rafiqul Islam, his family and relatives passed a critical time amid panic and anxiety. These family members, relatives and well wisher of Maulana Rafiqul Islam suffered severely due to such inhuman activities of the authorities.  Denial of someone’s arrest goes completely against the law, constitution and human rights. Though there is a law of producing a arrestee before a court within 24 hours of his arrest, but police has violated this law by concealing the arrest matter of Maulana Rafiqul Islam. The countrymen want to know the reason behind such violation of the law by the law enforcers. Such role of the police force is condemnable. I am calling upon the countrymen and the human rights organizations of home and abroad to raise voice against such unjust activities of the police force. I am urging the authorities concerned to release Satkhira district’s Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Rafiqul Islam immediately.”
