Acting Ameer calls to stop conspiracy of murdering Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid; demands his immediate release
Thursday, 01 October 2015
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed has issued the following statement on 30th September, 2015 expressing disappointment at the death penalty of Jamaat’s Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid in connection with some false, fictitious and baseless allegations and demanding immediate release of Mr. Mujahid and all other detained leaders and activists of the party. “The government has staged a trial of mockery by filing some false and fictitious allegations against the Jamaat leaders in order to make it a leaderless party. Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid has become the worst victim of government’s repression. The government had filed false case against him in line with the so called allegations of crimes against humanity. No specific allegations were brought against him. No eyewitness was not produced against him. Despite that, the tribunal issued death penalty against Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid. Subsequently, Mr. Mujahid filed an appeal against the tribunal order. The Appellate division finally published its verdict today upholding the death sentence in charge number 6. Mr. Mujahid has been made deprived from justice through this order. The countrymen are also disappointed with this verdict. The case filed against Mr. Mujahid is totally false, bogus and fictitious. The investigation officer of the case clearly admitted in the tribunal that in his yearlong investigation he did not find that no case was filed ever against Mr. Mujahid in connection with 1971 war crimes in any police station across Bangladesh. He also admitted in his cross examination that, in his investigation it is also found that, Mr. Mujahid was not involved with any auxiliary forces like Al Badar, Al Shams, Peace Committee and Rajakars. In charge number 6, Mr. Mujahid was implicated with the intellectual murder. The government has tried to involve him with this gruesome murder in a planned way. It is not mentioned in the charge order that, for which particular murder of intellectual, Mr. Mujahid was involved. No member of the intellectual family or the victims of the Mohammadpur Physical training institute atrocities came up in the tribunal to place testimony against Mr. Mujahid. Even though, Mujahid has been given death penalty and he has been deprived from getting justice. Mr. Mujahid would file a review against this verdict. If justice is ensured, we believe Mr. Mujahid would be acquitted in the review hearing. I am urging to stop the conspiracy of murdering Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid and demanding his immediate release along with the other detained party workers.
