Acting Ameer condemns unjust conviction of Mohamed Morsi and top Muslim Brotherhood leaders; calls to raise voice against the farcical trial
Wednesday, 22 April 2015
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed has issued the following statement on 22nd April, 2015 protesting and condemning the unjust conviction of top 12 leaders of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood including the first ever democratically elected President of Egypt Mohamed Morsi in a politically motivated case.
‘Dr. Mohamed Morsi is the first ever democratically elected President of Egypt. The people of Egypt elected him through a landslide victory. But the armed forces of Egypt have ousted him through a coup unlawfully by dint of arms and weapons. Later the military regime filed false and politically motivated case against him. In such a case, he along with 12 top leaders of Muslim Brotherhood has been awarded with the imprisonment for 20 years. Dethroning a President undemocratically, lodging false cases against him and finally the conviction is similar to killing democracy. These incidents are nothing but an international conspiracy to eliminate Islamic movement from the brotherly nation of Egypt. We are severely condemning the unjust conviction of Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood leaders.
Conspiracy is going on in Egypt to destroy the Islamic leadership in the name of trial. I am calling upon the world communities including the United Nations, OIC, all the human rights organizations and peace loving people around the world to raise voice against the farcical trial.
We are urging the Egyptian government to withdraw all the political cases and to release Dr. Mohamed Morsi and other leaders of Muslim Brotherhood immediately.”
