Acting Ameer condemns police raid in Kamaruzzaman’s house; demands immediate release of his relatives
Tuesday, 24 February 2015
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed has issued the following statement on 24th February, 2015 protesting and condemning the massive raid into the house of the detained Senior Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Muhammad Kamaruzzaman and the unlawful arrest his brother-in-law Monowar Hossen Babul and his nephew Abdul Alim.
“I am vehemently protesting and condemning the massive raid into the house of the detained Senior Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Muhammad Kamaruzzaman and the unlawful arrest his brother-in-law Monowar Hossen Babul and his nephew Abdul Alim. The government is trying to kill Muhammad Kamaruzzaman in a planned way in line with a false and concocted case. The authority has kept him behind the bar for 5 years inhumanly. By carrying raid into his house in search of his family members, now the government is harassing his familiar personnel. Human rights have been foiled as well by the detention of his brother-in-law Monowar Hossen Babul and his nephew Abdul Alim.
In one side, the government is planning to kill Muhammad Kamaruzzaman vindictively, while on the other they are harassing his family members in a bid to destroy his family. I am urging all the local and international human rights bodies and the countrymen to raise voice against the government’s repression against the family of Muhammad Kamaruzzaman. I am also calling upon the authorities concerned to release his brother-in-law Monowar Hossen Babul and his nephew Abdul Alim immediately.
