Acting Ameer calls to observe International Mother Language Day on 21st February with due respect and fervor
Friday, 20 February 2015
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maqbul Ahmed has issued the following statement on 20th February, 2015 urging the countrymen to observe the ‘International Mother Language Day and Historic Martyr Day’ tomorrow on 21st February with due respect and fervor.
“Tomorrow 21st February is ‘International Mother Language Day and Historic Martyr Day’. Based on the sacrifice of the martyrs of 21st February, the Bengali language has achieved the recognition as the state language and mother language internationally. The nation will always remember those martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for establishing Bengali as the state language. I am recalling the great contribution of those martyrs of the language movement and praying for the blessings and salvation of their departed souls.
The dream of the language martyrs should be implemented by establishing the glorious position of the Bengali language at all levels and by protecting the dignity of this sacred language from the cultural aggression. This is the only way to show proper tribute to the language martyrs.
Finally, I am urging all fronts and wing organization of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the countrymen to observe the ‘International Mother Language Day and Historic Martyr Day’ tomorrow on 21st February with due respect and fervor.”
