Maulana Abdus Sobhan became the worst victim of government’s vengeance; Acting Ammer calls the countrymen to intensify movement to foil conspiracy of killing Jamaat leadership
Wednesday, 18 February 2015
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maqbul Ahmed has issued the following statement on 18th February, 2015 protesting and condemning the government’s conspiracy to kill Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer, renowned religious scholar and former member of the Parliament Maulana Abdus Sobhan.
“The government is continuously plotting conspiracy to destroy the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami and to eliminate the party as a whole. As the government failed to tackle Jamaat-e-Islami, they conspired to brand the Jamaat leaders as war criminal and filed false and concocted case against them. Even they openly declared to root out Jamaat-e-Islami. They placed false testimony by producing their own party men as witness in the tribunal. The purpose of the government is to establish the false doctrine and to ensure vindictive punitive measures against the top leaders of the party.
Based on such false, baseless and fictitious allegation, the tribunal handed down death penalty against veteran politician and parliamentarian Maulana Abdus Sobhan. This judgment has deprived him from getting justice. He will appeal against this verdict. If proper justice is ensured over there, we firmly believe that, he will be acquitted by the grace of Almighty Allah.
Maulana Abdus Sobhan became the worst victim of government’s vengeance. The allegations brought against him are totally false. The people of his constituency have elected him member of the Parliament twice in 1991 and 2001. Throughout his life, he had serve Pabna district and its people. Many mosques, religious school, general schools, colleges, orphanages and hospitals of Pabna are still functioning to uphold his unique and sincere effort to serve the humanity. The countrymen are really concerned and anxious over the conspiracy of government to murder such a person of 85 years of age.
We are urging the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami to show highest patience against the ill conspiracy of the government and to observe all the declared programs of the party.
Right now, all out movement is being conducted nationwide by the 20 party alliances in order to restore democracy and to ensure voting and other fundamental rights of the citizen. So we are not declaring any additional programs. Rather we are calling upon the countrymen to observe the declared programs of the 20 party alliances and to intensify the ongoing movement in a bid to foil all conspiracy of the government.
I am declaring special prayer day on Friday seeking salvation of the Almighty Allah for releasing all the top leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami including its Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Abdus Sobhan.
I am also calling upon the government to stop all the conspiracies and to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and 20 party alliances immediately.”
