Acting Ameer condemns death sentences against Badie and other top Muslim Brotherhood leaders; demands immediate release
Sunday, 12 April 2015
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed has issued the following statement on 12th April, 2015 expressing grave concern over the issuance of death sentence against 14 top leaders of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood including its chief Mohammed Badie.
“The incumbent government has been carrying out many efforts to root out the traditional pro-Islamic organization Muslim Brotherhood. After dethroning the first ever democratically elected President of Egypt Mohamed Morsi in 2013, the military junta lodged several conspiracy cases against the top leaders of Muslim Brotherhood. And different sentences are being handed down against the leaders of Muslim Brotherhood in connection with those cases.
In a similar case, the Egyptian government has awarded death penalty against 14 top leaders of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood including its chief Mohammed Badie. As a part of global conspiracy to wipe out the Islamic forces, ill effort is going to make Egyptian Muslim brotherhood, a leaderless organization. In this backdrop, I am urging the Muslim Ummah, United Nations, OIC, the human rights organizations and the peace loving people around the globe to raise voice against these farcical and unjust trials.
I am calling upon the Egyptian government to withdraw all the politically motivated cases and to release the leaders of Muslim Brotherhood including its chief Mohammed Badie immediately.”
