Acting Ameer condemns unlawful arrest of Jamaat leaders; urges people to take stand against state backed terrorism of the government
Sunday, 08 February 2015
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed has issued the following statement on 8th February, 2015 protesting and condemning the unlawful arrest of the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir nationwide including Satkhira district Jamaat Ameer and former member of the parliament Maulana Abdul Khaleq.
“Police has unlawfully arrested Satkhira district Jamaat Ameer and former member of the parliament Maulana Abdul Khaleq, Sylhet south organizational secretary and former Upazila chairman Lokman Ahmed, Shundarganj Upazila Secretary of the Gaibandha district Lecturer Badrul Amin, Mymensingh district Jamaat’s working committee member Advocate Mahbubur Rahman Farabi on 8th February and Barguna district Chhatrashibir president Iftekhar Hasan Farid on 7th February. The law enforcers had arrested 4 Chhatrashibir activists named Ammar, Baijid, Sajib and Abdullah two days back but still they are not produced before the court. Their families are in severe panic and anxiety as they fears their beloved family members may face unfortunate consequence like extra judicial killing. The law enforcement agencies have arrested more than 200 leaders and activists of 20 party alliances across the country today. I am vehemently protesting and condemning such mass arrest and state backed terrorism of the government.
The government is conducting mass killing, extra judicial killing, abduction, mass arrest and inhuman torture against the opposition men just to foil the ongoing movement. No autocratic government could sustain in the history by carrying such repression, the incumbent government would not be able to stay as well. The tyrannical government must be step down in the wake of the massive movement. By foiling all ill conspiracies of the government, people will attain the ultimate success through this movement.
I am calling upon the countrymen to raise voice against the government’s political vengeance, state backed terrorism, extra judicial killing and indiscriminate arrest nationwide.”
