Jamaat-e-Islami holds demonstration nationwide demanding minority’s security; blames ruling party cadres for carrying attack on minority

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, as the first political party in Bangladesh declared a demonstration program on Saturday across the country demanding safety and security of the minority communities. As a part of the centrally declared program, all wings and units of the party brought out hundreds of procession nationwide.

In the capital, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka city unit brought out a huge procession. Addressing the gathering, Jamaat leaders urge government not to back those quarters that had carried attack on minorities. In a similar program in Badda, party’s central working committee member Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud claimed, Awami League’s trend of carrying ill politics with the minorities has come to an end. The people of the country clearly understood that, the ruling party and its cadres are involved with the incident of attack on minorities. They want to shift the liability of these crimes on the opponents but their conspiracy and ill intention will never be materialized. Dr. Masud urged the government to ensure safety and security of the minority people and their properties and also to provide compensation to the victims who had lost their belongings in the attack of the ruling party thugs in recent times. Among others, central Majlish-e-Shura member of the party Dr. Rezaul Karim, Dhaka city Jamaat leader Mohammad Lutfor Rahman and Advocate Helal Uddin addressed the program.

At the onset of the program, police lobbed tear shell and rubber bullet and then the area witnessed chase and counter chase for hours between the two sides. Police arrested 5 Jamaat activists from the spot. At one stage, Jamaat-e-Islami along with the local people formed resistance and concluded the procession and rallies peacefully.
Similar procession and demonstration held in all the districts, cities and municipalities across the country. Jamaat-e-Islami also brought out procession in port city Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Bogra, Comilla and other parts of the country as a part of the centrally declared program demanding safety and security of the minority people.
