Prof Ghulam Azam participates in sister’s Namaj-e-Janaza on parole

Being released on parole, detained former Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and language movement hero Prof Ghulam Azam participated in the Namaj-e-Janaza of his younger sister in the capital's Moghbazar on Saturday evening.

Though three-hour parole Prof Azam was approved from the Home Ministry, police took back him within one hour and fifteen minutes to the prison cell.

Getting released from the prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital at 6:20pm, Ghulam Azam went to his sister's Moghbazar residence.

Thousands of people attended theNamaz-e-Janaza under barricade of huge number of law enforcing agencies.

Among others, Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Prof AKM Nazir Ahmad, central executive member Ahmadullah Bhuiyan and Assistant Secretary Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud and Manjurul Islam Bhuiyan took part in the janaza.

It may be mentioned that Prof Ghulam Azam was sent to jail on January 11 this year following an order of the International Crimes Tribunal, a domestic war crimes tribunal, in his alleged involvement with the so called crimes against humanity committed during the country's Liberation War in 1971. Since then he was kept at the BSMMU prison cell.
