Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on 2nd April, 2017 protesting and condemning the news published in Bengali daily ‘Bangladesh Pratidin’, Banik Barta and online version of NTV citing a remark of Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan that he has made while visiting the Mongla sea port in which he stated that ‘Jamaat is creating militant and terrorism in the name of IS.’
“While visiting the Mongla sea port Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan stated that ‘Jamaat is creating militant and terrorism in the name of IS’- which is completely baseless, false and politically motivated.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami sincerely believes in systematic and democratic trend of politics. Jamaat has no connection with militancy and terrorism. Rather the government has created the issue of militancy and terrorism to conceal its utmost failure and also to divert the attention of the people towards another direction.
I hope and expect that the Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan would be refrained from making such confusing, baseless and false comment in future.”
