Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 14 February, 2022 protesting government's recent move as Jamaat's Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has been taken into police remand in connection with a false case.

Government has shown Jamaat's Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar in another false case and subsequently taken into three day police remand. He had secured bail from the High Court although he was not released and shown arrested in two more false cases. He is sick for years and underwent through surgery. Even though, he has not released rather again was taken into police remand. We are vehemently condemning the incident.

The government has been continuing conspiracies to destroy the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami. As a part of that, the ruling authority had filed one after one false cases against its leaders. But the autocratic and tyrannical approach of the government will not be beneficiary for anybody.

I am urging the concerned authorities to cancel the remand against Professor Mia Golam Porwar and also to release him immediately.
