Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami severely protests and condemns the false and concocted report titled “বি.বাড়িয়ার জানাযায় লাখো মানুষের জমায়েত পূর্ব পরিকল্পিত” (Gatherings of millions in the funeral prayer in Brahmanbaria were preplanned), telecasted in the YouTube channel of Somoy TV. Jamaat-e-Islami also urges to punish them who were involved with this news making process.

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and party’s central Publicity Affairs Secretary Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda said in a statement, issued on April 21, 2020 that, “The report claimed to leak the audio of the conversation between Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and Mufti Mahfuzul Haque. But practically, it was not the voice of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

There are many audio and video statement of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman which are available in various online channels. By simply verifying those voices even manually, anyone can easily understand that the voice which has been telecasted in the YouTube channel of SomoyTV, is not of Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

By marking someone else’s voice as the voice of Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the concerned channel and its reporter has violated the information act and simultaneously humiliated the party and person severely. We are condemning the incident and urging the authorities concern to take punitive measures against those who were involved with the news making and telecasting process.
