Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on 31st July, 2017 urging the concerned authorities to take stern action and exemplary punishment against ruling Awami League’s labour wing Sramik League’s detained Leader Tufan Sarker and his associates who were involved with raping a female student and subsequently shaving the heads of the girl along with her mother.
“Ruling Awami League’s labour wing Sramik League’s detained Leader Tufan Sarker and his associates who were involved with raping a female student and subsequently shaving the heads of the girl along with her mother are enemies to the humanity. They are worse than the beast.
The accused Sramik League leader Tufan Sarker are notorious criminal, who has been sued in connection with 6 cases including the case of murder, attempt to murder, drug peddling and smuggling. Since Awami League came to the power, its front organizations including the leaders and activists of Chhatra League, Sramik League have started different kinds of ill activities like murder, rape, extortion, rape, tender terrorism, drug peddling and terrorism. Many women, young girls, female students and housewives are rampantly being raped by the Awami goons. They become more desperate as the government took no punitive measures against them which are the root cause of the increasing number of crimes and anarchy in the society.
The peoples of Bogra became agitated with the demand of the punishment of Sramik League leader Tufan Sarker and his associates. The picture of this gruesome incident has been published in different media. We are deeply ashamed of this heinous incident like the fellow citizens of the country. People will not tolerate any attempt to conceal this brutal incident.
I am urging the concerned authorities to take stern action and exemplary punishment against Sramik League Leader Tufan Sarker and his associates who were involved with this heinous incident.”
