Jamaat will effectively sustain in politics despite government’s repression

Tasnim Alam rejects the false news of Amader Shomoy against Jamaat-e-Islami

Central Publicity Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Professor Mohammad Tasnim Alam has issued the following statement on 22nd April, 2017 protesting and gainsaying the report published in Bengali Daily ‘Amader Shomoy’ titled “১৫ বছরের জন্য রাজনীতি থেকে হারিয়ে যাবে জামায়াত!” (Jamaat will be inactive in politics for 15 years).

“The report published in Bengali Daily Amader Shomoy centring Jamaat-e-Islami is completely unrealistic and fictitious. Responding to the report our specific answer is, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is still operating and functioning tackling the unprecedented torture and repression of the incumbent authoritarian government and by the grace of Almighty Allah, the party will effectively survive. No question is emanated of becoming inactive in politics for 15 years. The case, in line with Jamaat’s registration and electoral symbol are also subjudice. So no comment about these issues in advance is immoral and unlawful.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is an election oriented and democratic Islamic organization. The countrymen are intending to see a free, fair, credible and participatory election under a neutral government. The quarters that are creating confusion about Jamaat’s participation in the election, actually working to materialize the ill motivated agenda of the authoritarian government.

The report of Amader Shomoy further stated that, ‘except some few, almost all of the Jamaat leadership are opportunist and full time politician. They have no more qualities but utilizing the Jamaat establishments.’ These claims are nothing but an explicit exposition of their ignorance about Jamaat-e-Islami.

The report of Amader Shomoy in one side stated that Jamaat is considering passivity in politics for 15 years. After a while, they again reported that Jamaat has taken preparation to participate in the election under the alliance at least in 60 constituencies. Again the reporter claimed that Jamaat would demand for 100 seats from the alliance. Then again, they said, Jamaat will not go for election with the symbol of any other party, rather they would contest independently. These disparities within a single report indicate how much false information is inserted over there. The countrymen would not be confused with such perplexing report.

In this backdrop, I am urging the authority of Daily Amader Shomoy to be refrained from publishing such unrealistic report against Jamaat-e-Islami in future.”
