Professor Mujib reiterates demand of removing Greek Goddess statue from Supreme Court Premise

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 20th April, 2017 urging to remove the statue of the Greek Goddess from the premise of Bangladesh Supreme Court immediately.

“The countrymen and the religious scholars are united in line with the demand of removing the statue of the Greek Goddess from the Supreme Court Premise. There is no vague in this regard.

The general masses and the religious leaders are highly concerned and aggrieved with the hide and seek game which is going on centring the removal of the statue of the Greek Goddess from the Supreme Court premise. The religious people and the countrymen want to see the issue to be settled right now. The countrymen will not accept any more tricks with this sentimental issue. The crisis will not be resolved if the statue is covered with a cloth temporarily. Rather, such step will complicate the issue more, apprehend the expert communities. So it the unified demand from all quarters to remove the controversial statue immediately.

The countrymen want to see the materialization of the pledge of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that she has made about removing that statue in a recent meeting with the religious leaders. Since then some psychologically disturbed ministers and ruling party MPs are making humiliating, indecent and uncivilized comments against the religious personnel, which is similar to make ridicule with the Muslim people of the country. It is the responsibility of the government to control and restrain those personnel.

I am urging the concerned authorities to take effective and swift measures to remove the statue of the Greek Goddess from the premise of the Bangladesh Supreme Court immediately.”
