Professor Mujib urges to take immediate effective steps to facilitate the recognition of Kawmi Madrasa’s certificates

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 13th April, 2017 urging to take all necessary steps to facilitate the recognition of the Kawmi Madrasa’s certificates properly within minimum span of time.

“It is a long awaited demand of the religious scholars of the Kawmi Madrasa to recognize their education system. It is also the demand of the moment to implement the recognition of the certificates of the Kawmi Madrasa.

The religious leaders and scholars have been carrying out movements seeking the official recognition of their certificates. All the citizens of the country preserve the rights to take part in all the activities as per their distinctive qualification. During the previous regime of the four party alliance government, Allama Delawar Hossain Sayedee, one of the top most leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, had placed the issue of recognizing the Kawmi Madrasa educational system with due importance. Subsequently, the 4 party alliance government had issued a gazette on 29th August of 2006 and officially recognized the Kawmi Madrasas. As they gave this recognition at the last part of the tenure, they could not implement the decision properly.

During a meeting with the senior most religious scholars of Kawmi Madrasa on last 11th April, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina again took the decision on principle to recognize the Kawmi Madrasa officially. The countrymen want to see that the government would materialize their decisions without any further political ill tricks properly and transparently. The countrymen would not accept any unwanted interference or dillydally from the government in this regard.

Along with the implementation of the government’s decision of recognizing Kawmi Madrasa, the government should allow them to function as per the Islamic history and traditions. No exception or alternative will be accepted on this sensitive issue.”
