Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 11th October 2018 protesting and condemning the unjustified arrest of 8 leaders and activists of Chuadanga district Jamaat and Chhatrashibir including district Jamaat Ameer Anwarul Hoq Malik, Secretary Ruhul Amin, municipality unit Jamaat Ameer Masud Parvez, Islami Chhatrashibir’s Chuadanga district unit president Mahfuzur Rahman and similar unjust arrest of Noakhali district’s Choumuhoni Upazila unit Jamaat Ameer Nasimul Gani Chowdhury.
The government has begun a conspiracy to ingrain its tyrannical rule and as a part of the same conspiracy they have arrested Chuadanga district Jamaat Ameer Anwarul Hoq Malik, Secretary Ruhul Amin, municipality unit Jamaat Ameer Masud Parvez, Islami Chhatrashibir’s Chuadanga district unit president Mahfuzur Rahman and Noakhali district’s Choumuhoni Upazila unit Jamaat Ameer Nasimul Gani Chowdhury. I am severely protesting and condemning the incidents.
This government has no more public support and realizing the such realities, they have again started arbitrary arrest drives against the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir nationwide. To hold a farcical election, they have initiated these nationwide arrest drives. These incidents proved that the authority is not inclined to hold a free, fair and credible election. They are plotting conspiracies to stay in power by using all the state apparatus. I am urging the countrymen to form rock solid resistance against such conspiracies.
I am calling upon the concerned authorities to stop the ongoing arrest drives and to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir immediately.”
