Central Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Professor Md. Tasnim Alam has issued the following statement on 11th October 2018 protesting and gainsaying the news of Channel i online, which published a news titled “একুুশে আগস্ট: যাবজ্জীবন কারাদন্ডাদেশ পেলেন যারা” (21st August grenade attack case: The persons who have been awarded with life-term imprisonment) in which they included the photo of Jamaat’s Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman in list of the convicted personnel.
We have been shocked and surprised to see the photo of Jamaat’s Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman in list of the convicted personnel in a report of channel i online titled “একুুশে আগস্ট: যাবজ্জীবন কারাদন্ডাদেশ পেলেন যারা” (21st August grenade attack case: The persons who have been awarded with life-term imprisonment). I am vehemently protesting and condemning the incident.
This incident exposed the severe inefficiency and lack of responsibility of the channel i authority. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has no nexus with the case. But they published his photo without any scrutiny. We cannot understand that how did they commit such unlawful task. As if they are influenced with the idea that they have to make propaganda against Jamaat-e-Islami by any means.
I hope that the authority of channel i will seek forgiveness for this incident and replace the news with a correction immediately. Otherwise, we will have no option but taking legal action against them.
