Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 25th July, 2017 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of Lakhipur district Jamaat Ameer Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan.

"Without any reason, police has unjustifiably arrested Lakhipur district Jamaat Ameer Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan this afternoon. He is a noble teacher and highly respected person. The government has arrested such a man of benevolent and decent character simply because of its political conspiracy. We have no word to condemn his detention.

The incumbent authoritarian government has hatched a conspiracy to destroy the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami and as a part of this conspiracy they are arresting and harassing the Jamaat members and activists nationwide selectively. The government is carrying out brutal repression and torture against the opposition parties particularly against Jamaat-e-Islami just to strengthen its tyrannical rule. The fellow citizens of the country are highly disturbed and aggrieved due to the suppression and crackdown of the autocratic government. I am urging the countrymen to stand against the oppression and brutal activities of the present government.

Finally I am calling upon the authorities concerned to release all the members and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami including Lakhipur district Jamaat Ameer Master Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan immediately.
