Police arrests Dhaka district Jamaat leaders; Hamidur Rahman Azad protests

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 2nd July, 2017 protesting the unjustifiable arrest of Dhaka North organizational district’s Dhamrai thana Ameer Abul Hashem and district’s working committee member Maulana Abdur Rouf.

“Police has unjustifiably arrested Dhaka North organizational district’s Dhamrai thana Ameer Abul Hashem and district’s working committee member Maulana Abdur Rouf. They are completely innocent.

The government is detaining Jamaat leaders and activists of different levels in order to destroy the leadership of the party. The government is trying to stay in office by conducting inhuman repression and torture against the opposition parties particularly Jamaat-e-Islami. The popularity of the government has come to zero degree for its continuous and brutal oppression. I am urging the countrymen to raise voice against the tortures and crackdown of the government.

I am urging the concerned authorities to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Dhaka North organizational district’s Dhamrai thana Ameer Abul Hashem and district’s working committee member Maulana Abdur Rouf immediately.”
