Remembering the contribution of the former Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, worldn renowned religious scholar, former Minister and former Member of Parliament, Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami with deep respect, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued the following statement on May 10.
In the statement, he said, "Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami is a well-known name to the people of Bangladesh, a noted religious scholar and Islamic thinker. He achieved a great status by dint of his honesty, competence, generosity, modesty and humility. Since childhood, he has led his contemporaries at every level with the qualifications given by Allah Almighty. He was engaged in the work of spreading and establishing Islamic ideals since the beginning of his student life. As a politician, he has struggled for the welfare of people throughout his life. He has made unremitting efforts to establish a society based on justice and fairness. He has played a strong role in establishing the great ideals of Islam in Bangladesh through a democratic and systematic process in order to build Bangladesh as an Islamic welfare state.
He was elected as a member of the National Parliament from his native constituency in 1991 and 2001 by securing huge votes. The nation will remember his constructive role in the National Parliament with due respect. His speeches in the National Parliament on various issues were directional and inspirational. He has made many important contributions to spread Islamic education. His role in giving government's recognition to Qawmi Madrasa education was memorable.
He served as the Minister of Agriculture and Industries with honesty, competency, and efficiency. With his hard work, dedication, and sincere efforts, the industry sector became a profitable sector.
He had wide acceptance in the international arena. In 2006, Maulana Nizami was listed among the 500 most influential people in the world in a global survey. In 2009, he was considered one of the 50 most influential Muslims in the world in another global survey.
He has written many valuable books - which will shed light on the self-development of people, family, and society. His invitational speeches at numerous seminars, meetings, and gatherings in the home and abroad created a huge motivation in the world of people's thoughts. He was sentenced to death in a case of political conspiracy. His death sentence was executed at 12:10 am on May 10, 2016.
I remember and honor the contribution of former Ameer-e-Jamaat Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami with deep respect. I pray to Almighty Allah to accept his martyrdom and grant him a high position in Jannatul Firdaus.
We sincerely appeal to the countrymen to join the movement of Jamaat-e-Islami to implement the unfinished work of Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami and establish Bangladesh as an Islamic welfare state.
