Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that differences in party, ideology, and religion are natural, but we must be united in our national interests. It is not just ISKCON, but anyone who goes against the national interest must be confronted unitedly.
He made these remarks after meeting with the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, at the State Guest House Jamuna on Thursday night (28th November).
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman further said that discussions had taken place with the Chief Adviser on staying united on national issues. They discussed several issues that have recently caused public concern, and extensive discussions were held on how to resolve problems in a unified manner.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman mentioned that they had discussed solutions to issues that are angering people, such as the rising cost of living, to ensure that the prices of essential goods remain within people's purchasing power. Additionally, as Ramadan is approaching, discussions were held to prevent anyone from creating artificial shortages during that time.
In response to a journalist's question about elections, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer said that minimum reforms should be made quickly before elections. He stated that they have prepared over 40 reform proposals, but they have specifically placed 10 reform proposals to the interim government. Therefore, it has been suggested to hold elections after completing the minimum reforms.
Assistant Secretary General and former MP Hamidur Rahman Azad, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, and Central Executive Council member Saiful Alam Khan Milon were present at that time.
