Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "All the murderers from October 28, 2006 to August 5, 2024 must be prosecuted. However, those involved in recent massacres should be tried first on priority basis. They should be prosecuted as the fresh blood of the martyrs is still flowing. The injured are moaning. Evidences are available. The signs are vivid and clear. Justice should be established as soon as possible and they offenders should be punished duly.
He said this while addressing the chief guest at the Rukon (members) conference of Dhaka North City Jamaat-e-Islami at China Friendship Conference Center in the capital on October 13, Sunday morning. Central Executive Council member and Dhaka North City Ameer Muhammad Salim Uddin presided over the program which was hosted by City Secretary and Jamaat’s central working committee member Dr. Rezaul Karim. Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim presented the Dars-ul- Quran in the members’ conference. Among others, Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Central Executive Council member Abdur Rab, Central Executive Council member and Dhaka South City Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, Central Executive Council member Mubarak Hossain and others were present in the program as special guests.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "Except for a handful of miscreants, 180 million people of Bangladesh were oppressed during the fascist regime. And Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was in the front row of the oppressed. We do not want to carry oppression and injustice on anyone. Let them be judged by what they had done for a long time. They must not be deprived of their dues. Let him get what he is owed."
He said, "By killing each of our leaders, a terrible situation has been created in the country. The media has been turned into a tool of propaganda. They filed numerous cases against us and it was their effort to silence the protesting voice in Bangladesh. A preplanned propaganda was carried out for creating pressure from all sides. A government-staged demonstration was arranged in Shahbagh and some concocted items were provided from those demonstrations.
On 5 May 2013, the fascist government had carried out a crackdown against Hefazat-e-Islami, a non-political organization. It was another crime against humanity. It was another massacre. The nation still does not know how many people were killed on that day.
The chief guest said, "We will not take any revenge by taking the law into our hands against any terrorist. As they had taken the law into their hands and caused suffering to people, we won't do that. We want that remedy. Jamaat and Islami Chhatrashibir had the right to take revenge. But you are enough to testify that a single reprisal taken by Jamaat-Shibir men in any place of the country.
Speaking the program as the special guest, Professor Mujibur Rahman said, "A dictatorial regime never lasts." All must unite irrespective of party affiliation to make the victory meaningful and sustainable.” He called on everyone to make the utmost sacrifice to protect the country's independence, sovereignty and integrity.
Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan said, “We are a nation of heroes. So, no one could ever defeat us. The country has been under fascist and authoritarian rule for a long time. They have destroyed the country's democracy and democratic values to linger their illegitimate power. But finally, the fascism came to an end.
Muhammad Salim Uddin said, "We had to sacrifice a lot to free the country from fascism. All must work together to establish national unity against fascism. There is no choice but to bring all their misdeeds before the nation and decide the course of action for the future.”
The inauguration of the conference was announced by Golam Razaaq, father of Shaheed Nasib Hasan Rian, who has been martyred in the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
