Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, the nation is now united now. Awami League stood against the entire youth and student community and also committed genocide. They are morally defeated. Now they have to evaluate whether they have any right to do politics.
He said this in response to questions from reporters after meeting the family of martyr Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar Nirjan, a young army officer who was stabbed to death by terrorists in Cox's Bazar.
Jamaat Ameer went to Tanjim's house in Betka Kar under Tangail district Town on Saturday September 28, at around 10 pm to console the bereaved family.
At that time Tanjim's father Sarwar Jahan, mother Shahnaz Khan and sister Tasnubha Sarwar Suchi along with some of their relatives were present. After a short conversation, Jamaat Ameer conducted prayed to Allah seeking salvation and forgiveness for the departed soul of Tanjim.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, we have asked for two roadmaps from the interim government. One is for reforms and the other is the electoral roadmap. But if the first roadmap is not successful then the second one will also fail naturally. We do not want any failed elections. We want a successful election.
Regarding Sheikh Hasina's departure from the country in the face of intense agitation, he said, running away is not a good thing. Surely, she has now realized that the people of the country do not love him at all. She is gone and the nation is free now. Now let the to stay peacefully. But she must be brought back to justice for the crimes she has committed.
