Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued the following statement on December 19 expressing deep concern over the killings of 3 Bangladeshi youths due to torture by BSF at Panchbhulot border of Sharsha upazila bordering Benapole in Jessore district on December 18.
“I express deep concern over the killings of 3 Bangladeshi youths due to torture by BSF at Panchbhulot border of Sharsha upazila bordering Benapole in Jessore district on December 18. We are observing with great concern that since August 5, the killing and atrocities of Bangladeshi people by Indian BSF on the Bangladesh border have increased alarmingly. Despite repeated protests from Bangladesh against such killings and atrocities by Indian BSF, the Indian government is not paying any attention to it. This behavior of the Indian authorities proves that they do not want friendly relations with Bangladesh. Such hostile behavior by India towards Bangladesh will not benefit anyone. We call upon the government of India to immediately stop such provocative and insolent behaviors.
I strongly urge the government of Bangladesh to take effective steps to stop the killing of Bangladeshi citizens by the Indian BSF at the border areas.
