On Tuesday, October 14 at 10 am, the Honorable Acting High Commissioner of the Australian High Commission in Bangladesh Ms. Nardia Simpson visited the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and met Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. Following the meeting Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and Honorable Acting High Commissioner talked to the journalists and gave a short briefing. .
Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at that time said, "Our meeting today was held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere. Here we have discussed in detail all the issues related to the existing bilateral interests of the two countries and also about the way how we can advance the relationship. We also talked about how the Australian Government can provide meaningful support in the coming days, especially in our skills development programs. We also discussed what other roles the Australian Government can play as an important development partner of our country.
He also said that many of our people were injured and undergoing treatment in the mass uprising that took place in last July-August. I would like to request the Australian Government through the Honorable Australian Acting High Commissioner, that the Australian Government can assist in the treatment of all our people who are undergoing treatment for losing their eyes, hands, legs and other limbs. We also hope that in the future the Australian government will work for the development, progress and prosperity of Bangladesh.
