Sylhet city Jamaat hosts iftar program in honour of the distinguished personalities

The nation wants to get rid of repression and subservience: Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said, I have come at your presence after 8 long years. We are still on the path of rights and justice ignoring unprecedented suppression and torture. In this holy month of Ramadan, we have to make a vow to denounce the tyrants by utilizing the morals and teachings of this month.

Who is not in the power, it is not merely important. People want to live in peace, want to see the end of all sorts of oppression. The countrymen are not inclined to lead a subservient life. The freedom and sovereignty is at stake now and to protect our national dignity and also to restore our voting rights, there is no alternative but forming a broad base unity. Likely the past, Jamaat is committed to continue their ideologies and welfare activities for the sake of the people. 

He said this while addressing a Iftar program as the chief guest arranged by Sylhet city Jamaat-e-Islami in honour of the journalists, professionals, distinguished personnel and politicians. Jamaat’s central working committee member and Sylhet city Ameer Advocate Ehsanul Mahbul Jubayer presided over the program.

With the presence of hundreds of people from various corner of the society the program turned into a huge social gathering. Despite the government’s repression, torture and tyrannical initiatives, this social program arranged by Jamaat-e-Islami at Malancha Community Centre of the city had been appreciated by all quarters. Immediate before Iftar, Jamaat’s working committee member and Ex-lawmaker Principal Maulana Farid Uddin Chowdhury offered prayer seeking the welfare of the nation and quick recovery of the victimised national leaders.

Among others, BNP Chairperson’s advisor Khondokar Abdul Muktadir, Sylhet city Mayor and BNP leader Ariful Hoq Chowdhury, Jamaat’s central working committee member and Sylhet regional coordinator Professor Fazlur Rahman, Sylhet district Bar Association’s President Advocate Mohammad Lala, Jamaat leader Maulana Habibur Rahman, Hafiz Anwar Hossain Khan, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Khelafat Majlish Principal Maswood Khan, BNP leader and ex-lawmaker Dildar Hossain Salim, Dr. Shahriar Hossen Chowdhury, Sylhet Press Club’s Ex-President Muktabis-un-Nur, Sylhet chamber and commerce’s president Khondokar Shipar and various other representatives from various political parties were present in the program.

Addressing the program, Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer said this is the month when the holy Quran has been revealed. Islam’s primary and ultimate victory was ascertained in this month. So based on the spirit of this holy month, we have to make a determination to free the country from the clutches of imperialistic and dominant forces and also to protect our independence and sovereignty.
