Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s District and City Ameer conference was held with the party’s Acting Ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman in the chair. The conference protested and condemned the ongoing torture, repression, persecution, and arrest drive of the incumbent fascist government.
The conference opines that the movement for restoring democracy and citizen rights is becoming intense gradually. The entire countrymen became united to take part in the movement spontaneously. But the Awami League government is carrying out tortures, repression, and arrest drives to subdue this democratic movement. Some over-enthusiastic members of the law enforcers fired bullets in the processions of the opposition parties which left hundreds of activists injured. Thousands of opposition activists have been arrested and false cases have been filed against them. In the last 14 years tenure of the Awami League government has lodged numerous cases against hundreds of activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir. Thousands of activists also became the victims of imprisonment and repression. The incumbent fascist government is verbally talking about democracy and elections but practically they do not believe in democracy. We want to assert that, the ongoing political programs can never be foiled with politically motivated cases.
This District and City Ameer conference is observing that there is no existence of democracy, rule of law, and human rights. Voting rights and freedom of speech have been seized away. A one-party fascist rule has been launched to subdue the opponent’s voices. The judicial system and rule of law have been ruined. Public lives and properties are not secured. Incidents of abduction, murder, rape, and human rights violation are happening frequently.
This District and City Ameer conference is urging the government to stop the lodging of false and motivated cases, repression, abduction, murder, and human rights violation immediately. The conference is also calling upon fellow countrymen to launch massive movements against all oppression and injustices.
