Jamaat extends door to door relief assistance to Sylhet flood victims

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s central executive committee member Mohammad Shahabuddin has said, the entire Sylhet region is facing a severe flood. Water has entered public houses. School, college, and Madrasa are submerged. People have no food while the domestic cattle are also in want of food. Erosion has started alarmingly in Surma and Kushiara rivers. But no substantial relief activities are seen from the government side.

In this crucial condition, the pro-people organization Jamaat-e-Islami has taken the side of the flood-affected people. They are working wholeheartedly for the public welfare. Mohammad Shahabuddin has urged the government and the solvent people to come and help the flood victims. He said this while distributing relief among the flood victims in Dighirpar under Kanaighat Upazila of Sylhet district on 18th May.

Union Jamaat Ameer Maulana Omar Faruq presided over the occasion. Among others, Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General and Sylhet region’s coordinator Advocate Ahasanul Mahabub Zubayer, Sylhet north district Ameer Maulana Anwar Hossain Khan, Nayeb-e-Ameer Vice-Principal Maulana Syed Faizullah Bahar, district Secretary Maulana Islam Uddin, Sylhet city Chhtarashibir President Abdullah Al Faruq, district President Mohibullah Hosnegir and Union Jamaat Secretary Mamunur Rashid were present at that time.

Addressing the gathering, Advocate Ahasanul Mahabub Zubayer said, the government has to provide adequate food, medicines, and drinking water for flood-affected people. They have to rehabilitate the victims. Jamaat was with the mass people and will continue to serve people similarly in the days to come. During the occasion, Jamaat leaders distributed rice, lentils, oil, salt and other essential items.

Relief distributed in Jointapur

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leaders distributed reliefs among the flood victims in Dorbost union under Jointapur Upazila on 18th May. They also visited the remote areas, which have been devastated by the flood water. Among others, Jamaat’s central executive committee member Muhammad Shahabuddin, Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General and Sylhet region’s coordinator Advocate Ahasanul Mahabub Zubayer, Sylhet north district Ameer Maulana Anwar Hossain Khan, Nayeb-e-Ameer Vice-Principal Maulana Syed Faizullah Bahar, Syulhet north district Secretary and Jointapur Upazila Council’s former chairman Joinal Abedin, Sylhet east district Chhatrashibir Secretary Nazmul Islam, Jointapur Upazila Ameer Hafez Maulana Nazmul Islam and others were present on the occasion.
