Secretary General strongly condemns and protests the unjust killing of a Bangladeshi farmer by BSF

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued the following statement on February 8 strongly condemning and protesting the unjust killing of a Bangladeshi farmer by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).

“Bangladeshi farmer Bariqul Islam was unjustly detained and beaten to death by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) when he went to irrigate his land adjacent to the Raghunathpur border in Chapainawabganj in the early hours of February 7. We strongly condemn and protest this provocative and aggressive incident by the Indian BSF.

He further said that after this unwanted and unintended incident, panic and tension have arisen among the Bangladeshis of that area. The Indian BSF often creates a tensed situation on the border by killing Bangladeshis in this way. The countrymen believe that the Interim government should condemn and protest the brutal beating and killing of farmer Barikul Islam by the BSF.

We call upon the Indian government to stop the heinous provocative acts of entering the territory of Bangladesh and unjustly capturing and killing innocent Bangladeshi people. At the same time, we call on the interim government to take effective steps to ensure the safety of the people of all classes and professions, including farmers, in the border areas.”
